Kelly Slade-Kerr
Kelly advises both employers and employees on all aspects of
employment law, with an emphasis on claims relating to wrongful
dismissal, employment standards and human rights. Kelly also
acts for clients with respect to a variety of labour relations
matters, such as interpretation of collective agreements, unfair
labour practices and union-employee relations. She has
represented clients before the British Columbia courts, boards
of arbitration, and various administrative tribunals, including
the Human Rights Tribunal and the Labour Relations Board.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Business Administration degree
(specializing in human resource management and industrial
relations) from Simon Fraser University in 1995, Kelly completed
her law degree in Toronto. She received numerous awards and
scholarships in the course of her studies, including the
University of Toronto Davis & Company Entrance Scholarship. She
articled with a large national law firm in Vancouver and
practiced exclusively with its labour and employment group after
her call to the Bar in 1999. She joined Hamilton Howell Bain &
Gould in 2004.
Kelly has a common sense approach to employment and labour law.
She understands the need for practical, cost-effective solutions
and advocates strongly for her clients with this goal in mind.
When not practicing law, Kelly enjoys spending time with her
family, exploring the Sunshine Coast, and volunteering in her
community. She is currently a member of the Board of the Vivo
Children's Choir.
